Endoscopy

Examinations in our modern endoscopy unit are performed using high-definition video endoscopes; zoom and virtual chromoendoscopy are part of our standard procedure. Physicians are supported by specially trained endoscopy staff. Your privacy during the examination is important to us; we ensure a relaxed atmosphere in the examination room and provide disposable examination shorts.

Gastroscopy

A gastroscopy may be necessary to detect diseases of the esophagus, stomach, or duodenum. During the procedure, a thin endoscope is inserted through the mouth. Samples can be taken painlessly during the examination.

Upon request, you can receive sedation with propofol for the procedure. Please note that for the following 24 hours, you will not be legally competent or fit to drive. Please bring an accompanying person with you for this purpose.

If you have a referral for a colonoscopy, please come by during consultation hours—without an appointment—for the preliminary consultation and to schedule the procedure.

Colonoscopy

A colonoscopy is the most important examination for diagnosing bowel diseases and for colorectal cancer screening. During the procedure, a thin, flexible endoscope is inserted through the anus into the colon. Tissue samples can be taken or polyps (benign precursors to colon cancer) removed painlessly during the examination.

To ensure the colon can be properly assessed, it must be cleansed beforehand. You will receive the necessary laxatives during the preliminary consultation for the procedure.

Hygiene

In Germany, hygiene guidelines for practices with endoscopy units are mandated by the Robert Koch Institute. Through continuous updates to standards and ongoing staff training, we ensure compliance with these guidelines during the reprocessing of endoscopes and instruments. Regular inspections by the Association of Statutory Health Insurance Physicians document this compliance.
